BRAZILIAN ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

Brazil's 1998 Environmental Crimes Law has been a huge STEP BACKWARDS in the Brazilian history of wildlife protection. It is beneficial to the criminal and determines levy fines such as a few minimum wages or services rendered to the community – something that will never repair the damage these people have caused.

* NOTE: A comprehensive file on the Brazilian environmental legislation is available on the Portuguese version of this section: legisamb.htm . Unfortunately we cannot translate this whole section.

However, if you need any particular information on this matter, please let us know and we will try to provide you with what we have available: Contact us .

A strange thing about our law is that wildlife traffickers are set free - and the animals remain behind the bars...
