WILDLIFE TRAFFIC IN BRAZIL

Means of transport

In the many years of field works at SOS FAUNA we have seen various ways to hide and transport animals.
Some of them are pictured below:

These are so called “transports” or “voyagers”, some with many tiny divisions. Hidden in suitcases or bags, they are carried in buses (many of them clandestine) and private cars.

Truckers also smuggle wildlife across the country, from remote regions to large urban areas – dozens, hundreds and thousands of animals can share space with the official load.

We’ve also come across some unexpected means of transport like those pictured below:
tin cans, plastic bottles, milk boxes, carry-on bags with breathing holes, and suitcases hiding a transport cage.
